The one-story addition creates a new grand entrance for the Hormel Corporation. The addition is the first expansion of the building in 20 years. The 28,000 additional SF will include a new reception area, cafeteria, wellness center with locker rooms, conference rooms, and an auditorium area that will seat 60 people.
Sustainable systems implemented in the project include the use of geothermal and ground source heat pumps, demand based ventilation, and a rainwater collection system used for irrigation and toilet systems. Hormel Foods is striving to meet LEED Gold certification standards for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
