Geothermal systems lower operating cost, while providing dependable, year-round comfort with automatic changeover. By eliminating boilers, chillers, cooling towers, water treatment and related controls, maintenance costs are significantly reduced. The MEP team has developed specialized design concepts to capture these benefits and control costs. We take a fresh approach to each project by understanding what the needs of each facility are.

COMMISSIONING + RETRO-CX

More Info (PDF)

Commissioning ensures that new buildings operate per the owner’s project requirements and that their facility’s staff is prepared to maintain and operate the systems and equipment. It also validates that the building meets or exceeds anticipated life cycle cost projections in terms of energy use and the useful life of the systems.

The primary objective of retro commissioning is to ensure an existing building is operating per the owner’s current facility requirements. These requirements can be wide ranging and include items such as, containing or reducing operational costs, improving thermal comfort, code compliance, and infection control.

APPROACH

Our commissioning staff utilizes a team approach. It includes involving the owner’s key staff to clearly define the objectives of the project. The owner’s key staff is involved in each step of the commissioning process from design development and continuing throughout the life of the building.

3D Laser Scanning & Modeling

More Info (PDF)

One of the biggest challenges in planning for an upgrade or renovation of an existing facility is the unknown. Today's 3D laser scanning technology enables architects, civil engineers, facility managers, and contractors identify and better understand current site conditions. The "what-if scenarios" can be explored more quickly with complete, and precise 3D documentation on that status of a building and building site.

Our 3D laser scanning services provide a fast, efficient way to capture millions of data points for use in comprehensive 3D models or detailed reconstructions. The project can be vetted digitally which reduces time onsite, minimizes errors, and provides accurate data that can be allocated across all engineering disciplines.

Benefits:
Saves Time & Reduces Cost
Eliminate multiple site visits to acquire and verify dimensions

Minimize Errors
One validated set of data points reduces data collection efforts and streamlines work processes

Accommodate Scope Change
Verified and accurate data provides visibility and flexibility to deal with project scope change

Up-to- Date Documentation
Capture data to create up-to-date documentation for structures without pre-existing drawings or CAD files

MEP has worked with campuses across the country.
In today's economic climate of high and rising fuel costs, many owners of large twenty-four hour campus facilities benefit from examining new and creative ways to trim their energy bills. One beneficial option, especially for large facilities with simultaneous heating and cooling loads, is to examine the potential of a source that is already available, re-purposing heat that is ordinarily discarded by the HVAC system’s condenser.

Your Campus. Your Budget. Your Future!
We take great pride in offering a thorough understanding of district geothermal systems and the fact that no two facilities are the same - so there is no one system type that fits all. It is for that very reason why we are committed to listening to your needs and learning about the day-to-day operations from the owner and people who work directly with the systems. Through this integrated communication, we are able to approach each individual job with a fresh and innovative design that is custom to your campus.

MEP has worked with campuses across the country.
Throughout the project - from conception to the completion - we work directly with the facility and physical plant directors, department and maintenance heads and any other key personnel. By having the entire team involved in the design we are able to hone in and gain a true understanding of what your campus needs and desires are, ensuring the system not only serves the needs but far exceeds your expectations.
